Day Habilitation Services assists consumers in developing and/or maintaining skills of daily living
specific to their needs and wants; enabling them to reach their fullest potential and live as independently
in the most integrated settings possible. The American's With Disabilities Act (ADA) rules are followed.
Individuals must be at least 18 years of age, no longer enrolled in school, must have a documented primary
diagnosis of mental retardation with an I.Q. of 69 or below manifested prior to 18 years of age, and reside
in Chatham County.
Individuals with a dual diagnosis of mental retardation and autism, Prader Willi, or mental illness are
also eligible.
In addition to basic individual care, consumers engage in educational and recreational activities throughout
each day. Consumers and their families work with CCDS staff to determine specific skills to be taught and to
identify natural supports that are part the consumer's routine that will enhance their experiences in the
community.
Speech, occupational and physical therapists can be provided by physician request.
